The first Land Rover Series 1 was launched at the Amsterdam motor show in 1948. Featuring an 80in wheelbase, 50bhp 1595cc petrol engine and pick-up body, it would set you back £450. Fast forward 68 years and the last ever Defender rolls off the production line in Solihull in 2016. But why?
