Highland Games Challenge

Our Loch Lomond 'Highland Games' Team Building Challenge is genuine, sophisticated and engaging.

Our version of the Highland Games Loch Lomond Team Building Challenge is arguably the best in Scotland. We really like to give guests a genuine insight into the history, traditions and customs of the Highland Games. We work with authentic heavy weight athletes who compete for real, and we have our world class bagpipers and Highland dancers. 

GAMES ARENA & KILTS 

We will create your very own Highland games arena on the lawn at your chosen Loch Lomond venue. We always provide shelter from the elements with our large easy-up gazebos, and we dress the space with whisky barrels and classic crème bunting. 

We bring the ‘weight for height’ apparatus and the real caber from the local Highland games and staging for the highland dancing. We always provide authentic highland dress kilts for the clan chiefs (team captains), which is always great fun. 

HEAVYWEIGHT ATHLETES DEMO

Our heavyweight athletes or ‘heavies’, as they are affectionately known, actively compete on the Scottish Highland games circuit in locations across the country most weekends of the summer. They love to informatively entertain our guests, telling them about the history and traditions of the Highland games, before demonstrating their strength and skill on the most iconic Highland games pursuits, including the caber toss, Scottish hammer throw and weight for height. 

Your group will be bagpiped onto the field in traditional fashion, before we split them into clans to be rotated around our 6 Highland games challenges. Each of whuch takes around 15mins. We’ve created fantastic lightweight versions of the pursuits, so that guests can experience them without too much physical exertion or risk of injury. This is a very inclusive experience; it is not physically demanding, and it is highly enjoyable, even for those who do not wish to participate. 

CABER TOSS

Guests will experience tossing the caber for real, competing under the expert instruction of the heavies. We have a selection of different sized cabers to suit different guests’ weight, height, and strength. Guests are taught to throw the caber end over end and aim to land it at 12:00 on a metaphorical clock face. This is the most iconic of Highland games pursuits. 

HIGHLAND DANCING

At most of Scotland’s Highland gatherings there’s a Highland dancing competition running alongside the heavy athletics. We always bring our world class piper and Scottish champion Highland dancer to put your guests through their paces teaching them the steps of the Highland fling. Having your teams learn a few steps of the Highland Fling is hilarious and adds real atmosphere and a focal point to the event. 

SHEAF TOSS

Using the impressive weight for height apparatus from the highland games, pitchfork and sack of wheat, guests are invited to take their turn at throwing the sack over the bar, as the height is increased in increments. 

WHISKY GOLF 

Scotland is famous for many things, none more so than Whisky & Golf. We have combined them to great effect, with our whisky barrel chipping challenge. We always love to raise the stakes – hit the bottle of single malt whisky with your golf ball and we will let you keep it! 

ARCHERY 

Archery is the most ancient of hunting pursuits. It is little known that Sir William Wallace was a trained bowman, in fact, his official wax seal featured the bow and arrow. All our archery equipment is the very best quality featuring professional recurved bows and carbon arrows. Our expert instructors will teach guests the basics and help them to hone their techniques. 

PRIZE GIVING

Once all the teams have competed in each pursuit, we will collate the scores and have a prize giving with whisky miniatures for each of the member of the winning clan and clan prize for the winning clan and individual prizes for the best male and female athletes and other special funny awards,
